Writer’s Block or Inspiration Block?

Is writer’s block real? You sit down to write your next song and “Pow” nothing happens. You can’t think of any words to put to this nice instrumental you have. Maybe you’re trying to write from scratch with no music, just you and your guitar or piano. Either way you just stare at a blank page.

The first thing that comes to your mind is that commonly used term writer’s block. You think you are experiencing writer’s block. So, after a while you give up. You put your pencil/pen down and walk away feeling like you lost your best friend. You say to yourself “I’ll try in a couple of hours”.

My question to you is was that writer’s block or inspiration block? Really give it some thought. Writer’s block only happens because you’re trying to be inspired. Inspiration is cool but you’re not going to always be inspired. If you just sit down come up with a concept and start writing you’ll be ok and you will never have “writer’s block”. Don’t over think it, just write.

There are tons of resources to help with writing (i.e. Articles, Books, TV, Movies, Life etc.) Everything around you is a source for helping you to write consistently. Everything you write doesn’t have to be perfect the goal is to get it out.

“I’ve always felt that inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work.” Chuck Close
